FOR REVIEW

PHYSICAL COPIES

The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Eddie Campbell: Thanks Headline and Bookbridgr! I AM SO HAPPY I GOT THIS FOR REVIEW. :D You all know how much I like Neil Gaiman, right?

DIGITAL COPIES

Extraction by Stephanie Diaz: Downloaded from Netgalley for a blog tour. (My first ever blog tour!) Sci-fi dystopia. The blurb is weird and fascinating!

My Soon-To-Be Sex Life by Judith Tewes: I heard about this from Jo @ Once Upon a Bookcase and decided to check it out. :D It has a very eye-catching title and cover!

Summer's Shadow by Anna Wilson: I know very little about this book. It has a pretty cover and it's UKYA (I think it probably straddles the line between MG and YA, though I don't know yet), so I requested it. Hopefully it'll be good!

WON

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo: Won this through Goodreads! Haven't read the first one yet, so I bought that one.

PURCHASED

Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix: Whoo! I realised I'd never read these books before and I saw people getting excited for Clariel's release later this year and I was like... maybe I should read these. Because they definitely sound like books I'd really enjoy! I'm so excited about these. :D

A Voice in the Distance by Tabitha Suzuma: For Mental Health Awareness Month. Sequel to A Note of Madness which I read years ago and really liked. About a boy who's a talented musician with bipolar disorder.

Also Known As by Robin Benway: I wanted something fun and light in case I ever needed a break from all the more depressing books I might be reading this month, so I got this and Ask Again Later. Teenage spies! Hilarity! Romance!

Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas: I saw Lesley @ Books and Beautiful World tweet that this was good, I think, so I looked it up on Goodreads and it seemed like something I'd really enjoy. IT SEEMS SO CUTE. I can't wait to read it.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo: Well, like I said, I won the second book, and I know the third book's coming out soon and this seemed like a trilogy I really should check out, so. Here I am. :D

Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson: I hear the sequel to this has an asexual character. Also, this book is just apparently really good? I DUNNO BUT THE BLURB IS SO INTRIGUING.

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West: Got the Kindle edition because it was on sale. I wanna try out Kasie West's writing! This seems like a pretty fun contemporary that a lot of people like, so.

That's it from me this week! Have you had a good week? Feel free to link me to your book hauls and/or weekly recaps!

  3. Great haul, Cynthia! I really hope you enjoy My Soon-to-Be Sex Life! I really enjoyed it! Ultraviolet is also awesome! Could also work for MHAM :) And it's sequel, Quicksilver, is amazing! So cool to read about an asexual character!

Will be checking out the New Adult list you linked too! I could do with some more non-sexy ones!

  4. I'm flailing right now @(^_^)@ Ask Again Later is such of a fun and adorable read. It made me laugh and smile and just generally feel all fluffy inside. Also, The Guy uses the names of internal organs as terms of endearment. Just... It was is so unexpectedly adorable ( ಥـْـِـِـِـْಥ)* Although, this is coming from somebody who has the nickname of "Lezzles" (my friends are weird) and likes it. So. And Also Known As is also a real fun book. Be sure to tell me what you think of Roux-- I thought she was awesome and hilarious. Ooh, and Ultraviolet... It's epic.

And guess who just bought Crazy by Amy Reed because of your review? *points at herself* What can I say, your reviews are awesome. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

YESSS Shadow and Bone and Siege and Storm!!! I LOVE THAT SERIES. I mean, like, beyond love. It's like, an unhealthy obsession at this point. I can't wait for you to read it :D You'll have to let me know how The Distance Between Us is; I really want to read some of West's writing!

  6. Ooh, congrats on winning Siege and Storm!! Shadow and Bone was AWESOME. I'm totally wanting to read book #2 (which stares at me in the library) buuuut, so many books. >.< I need more time! *ahem* OMG YOU HAVE EXTRACTION!! I really really want to read that, but didn't get a chance. I can't wait to see your stop on the blog tour, then. ;)

  7. Yay for The Distance Between Us!! I adore Kasie West's writing. I still haven't gotten to Pivot point yet, but I loved The Distance Between Us and On The Fence. :)

I saw that Shadow and Bone is on sale again, but I still haven't grabbed it. I just haven't been in the mood for that kind of read, but it's on sale so I should just buy it. :)

    happy reading.

YAY for the Abhorsen trilogy. Definitely need to do a reread of that series in time for Clariel, I can barely remember any of it.

I have Shadow & Bone and can't wait to read it, have heard amazing things. I read and loved The Distance Between Us, made me want to read all of West's other books. Congrats on your win as well :)

  12. I read Ask Again Later a couple days ago, though sadly I didn't love it. Maybe I was just in the wrong mood. I mean, it was enjoyable, but it was just kind of average and forgettable too. I did love the whole internal organ nicknames thing though. That was pretty awesome. I'll write up a review in the next couple of days probably so more thoughts on that later. Although I think I'm just not in the mood for contemporaries lately. I just wanna read alllll the fantasy.

Haha, thanks, Lesley! I'd love to know what you think of it. (:

  13. I don't think I really loved Shadow and Bone as much as everyone else did, but Siege and Storm was better. I will get round to Ruin and Rising soon, I think! You should read Siege and Storm soon too. :D I do have Extraction! I really need to read it soon, haha. I really hope I enjoy it.

  14. I DO love Sturmhond, I do! The books I don't absolutely love, but I do like them; Siege and Storm was better than Shadow and Bone, so I'm hoping Ruin and Rising is even more impressive.
