British Books Challenge 2014

Challenge: Read 12 British books in 2014

I've decided to participate in the British Books Challenge hosted by Sarah at Feeling Fictional! As I'm a blogger based in the UK, and I spent years reading UKYA before I really started reading US stuff more and more, I thought it might be best if I tried to read more UK books again. I don't know how it happened; between the ages of about 11 to 15 I consumed lots and lots of British books, and then suddenly I kind of stopped. But it's with British books that my love for reading started.

(The one British author whom I've never stopped reading is Terry Pratchett. I love the Discworld series so much.)

I've already read one British book this year (A Kiss in the Dark by Cat Clarke, which I loved to bits and reviewed just last night), and I'm planning to read at least 11 more for this challenge! I will probably be focusing on YA, I think, though I may or may not read some adult fantasy books too. Some of the books that I'm looking forward to reading are Pantomime by Laura Lam, The Elites by Natasha Ngan, Tribute by Ellen Renner, and Trouble by Non Pratt.

LGBT Month and LGBT Challenge

So here are some cool things I've decided to participate in:

LGBT Month is hosted by Cayce at Fighting Dreamer and Laura at Laura Plus Books. It runs throughout April and it’s here to celebrate LGBT readers, LGBT authors and of course LGBT books!

Challenge: Read 3+ LGBTQ books in 2014

Uh, I've kind of already managed to complete this challenge before I even joined; that's how much I love LGBTQ books. I've managed to review 3 LGBTQ books in as many weeks since I started this blog, and I hope to review many more. Up next on my list is probably Adaptation by Malinda Lo.

I'm also planning to read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan-- and after that, who knows?

I really love LGBTQ books, you guys. As you can probably tell. I can never stop talking about them. They really helped me as I was growing up. I might do a post later on this month talking about some LGBTQ books I've read in the past that I've really liked, as well as a post on LGBTQ books that will be published this year that I'm excited about.
